Yes, December is here and so is my month of Christmas! Every couple of days I will post a blog related to Christmas in some way or another. It could be from giving gifts on a budget to how to handle the holidays with the family.
Today it’s Decorations!! More importantly I will be telling you how to make your own decorations this year that will, not only cost next to nothing, but will also allow you to add your own twist! 🙂
Don’t have any baubles this yeah or fancy something a little different, then how about making your own with some left over light bulbs. It’s so quick and easy to do! 😀 All you need is…
– Light bulbs
– 24-gauge wire
Use the paint brush to cover glass bulb with glue. Sprinkle glitter onto the bulb. Wrap wire around the neck of the bulb 5 times and tie, leaving about an inch of wire remaining. Knot the ends of the wires together to create a loop. Hang. 🙂
For that extra personal touch around the home this Christmas why not try making some cookie cutter frames! They also make an excellent gift if you’re struggling to come up with anything. All you need is…
Place a cookie cutter (hopefully Christmas themed) on top of the photo. Trace the outer edge of the cookie cutter. Cut the photograph along the traced edge. Pop it into the back of the cookie cutter.
Turn Pillows into Presents
Tie a bow around your sofa cushions with left over ribbon turning them into presents, maybe add some Christmas tags to add to the effect!
Show Your Cards
I don’t just mean put them on the mantel piece above the fire! Turn them into works of art. Put them on the walls. Maybe make a make-shift wreath with them! Here is a little help on how to do just that!
– Wood glue
– Miniature wooden pegs
– Large embroidery hoop
– Holiday cards
Using wood glue, affix miniature wooden pegs to a large embroidery hoop (about 14-inch-diameter). Alternate the pegs to point outward and inward, spaced 1 1/2 inches apart. Suspend from a ribbon, and clip your cards in place as you receive them. 🙂
I hope I gave you some good ideas about alternative decorations you can make, especially when you’re on a budget!
