Yes unfortunately it looks like winter has finally arrived and we all know what that means, the ‘Dreaded Cold’! I have come up with a couple of tips that can keep you lovely lot warm, safe and well over the winter.
Look into the Flu jab.
As most of you are feeling already, over winter we’re more likely to get the flu. Now I know you might feel like you don’t need it and for the most part that will be true, however for the unlucky few who are either work with the elderly or have a weak immune system the Flu jab is something that needs to be seriously considered.
Know your local services.
It sounds simple enough but try to know the contact information of you GP, Dentist, Pharmacy etc. as well as their opening times. As we’re nearly at Christmas most pharmacy’s will have a date in which after that they will not take any more repeat prescriptions so make sure that you stock up over the holidays.
Speaking of stocking up make sure you stock up on important over the counter medicines. Think about paracetamol, ibuprofen, throat
lozenges, antiseptic cream, plasters and antacids.
I know it’s winter and all you want to do is eat the unhealthiest food out there to build up our winter layer but, of course, that’s not the best thing when you’re trying to fight off colds and the flu. Try to eat your five a day and drink a lot of water. If you stick to that then maybe you can have a pizza or two 😉
… Keep Fit!!
I know, I know!! I can here you all “Kayleigh it’s winter! We can let go for a bit!” Before you bite my head off, there are fun winter activities that you can do to keep you active! Ice Skating (Winter Wonderland is open now in Cardiff) and Snowball fights (if we do get any snow).
